         Biker Movies of 2000s

2000 Jan. Hellblock 13 “In a dark and dreary death-row cell block of a women's prison in South Carolina, a deranged female serial killer named Tara (Debbie Rochon) reads to her impending executioner (Gunner Hansen) three horror stories based on the 'voices' that compelled her to write during her years on death row. ... In "Big Rhonda" an outlaw motorcycle gang shows it's newest member a blood-oath ritual for one of their long-dead members. But the bikers don't see their newest addition for what he is, but the undead Rhonda does!” IMDb.com

2000 Road Kings aka Road Dogs (2005)
“Two African-American men who venture out on a motorcycle odyssey, leaving the violence of the streets behind. Fresh from a stint in jail, ex-gang member Panther thinks that the only way he can go straight is to leave L.A. So with his buddy Ray the two embark on a countrywide journey. Along the way, they pick up a sheltered film student hitchhiker and encounter a couple of southern belle rappers.” Allmovie.com Seems a road trip is the way to find oneself.  At least there are no stunts on these sports bikes.  It is actually a good look at the black experience and race relationships.

2000  Radical Jack “Jack Reynolds (Billy Ray Cyrus) is a drifter with a motorcycle, lots of tattoos, and a good right hook who gets a job tending bar in a small Southern town. A powerful and ruthless illegal arms dealer has much of the town in a stranglehold, and when Jack draws the attentions of Kate (DeDee Pfeiffer), the woman the dealer loves, Jack finds himself doing battle with the dealer's henchmen. But what no one in town knows is that Jack is a former CIA operative whose wife and children were killed years ago while he was trying to put the dealer behind bars -- and Jack is not the sort of man who is willing to forgive and forget” - allmovie.comIMDb Biker?  Just in the cover art and opening scene, then the Sportster is never to be seen again.

2000 Aug. (Argentina)  The Road aka El Camino “As a child Manuel never knew his father, and as an adult the allure of exploring his origins simply becomes too powerful to resist. Setting out across the roads of Patagonia to attend the funeral of a distant relative, Manuel soon finds romance with a beautiful young photographer named Carolina. As Manuel and Carolina take flight to escape the wrath of a murderous cop, the young lovers maneuver through the countryside in hopes of not only forging a future, but discovering the past as well.” ALLMOVIE.com - Imdb

Sept 2000 Canada Hochelaga
“After an unpleasant run-in with a group of bikers, a young convenience store robber (Marc) gets approached by the same bikers to help out with a picnic. After the picnic, seeing he has guts, the bikers propose him for membership.” Internet Movie Database - TCM

2000 He Would Have Rode a Harley  documentary
“A fascinating look at a rough and tough motorcycle gang of ex-cons and former drug users who have been converted to the teaching of Jesus Christ. Firm in their religious convictions, these bikers have become soldiers of Jesus who take to the road to spread the good word." eztakes   2000 Girl Gone Bad Documentary 60 minutes
"From outriders to outlaws, club mamas to dykes on bikes, and biker babes to weekend warriors, the program profiles women who have mastered motorcycles. At the heart of the documentary is the quest to understand the true nature of freedom and the true nature of self, as each character struggles to defy traditional stereotypes in the male-dominated world of motorcycles. " TCM

2001 Biker Zombies From Detroit
“Biker Zombies From Detroit is a horror/comedy contrasting the dark deadly streets of outer Detroit against the posh and protected upscale community of Grosse Pointe.” IMDb.com

2002 Lone Hero Canadian made for HBO Lou Diamond Phillips, Sean Patrick Flaner
“Standard story of a biker gang taking over a town. The story starts with Phillips and a cohort robbing a store and injuring a salesperson. The bikers tell everyone in the store that if any one tells who committed the crime, the gang will take revenge on them and their families. Flanery nonetheless proceeds to arrest them with a gun filled with blanks when he next sees them. The gang breaks their leader out of jail, killing the policemen in the process.”  Imdb.com   This is a modern, I think well done, telling of the old formula of biker gang and justice.  Phillips is more real and menacing then those in past as there is none of the jive hippy talk.

2002 Iron and Leather also released as Screaming Metal
“John Telliman, a rich lawyer who rides bikes on the weekends, falls into some trouble with a gang of outlaw bikers and gets a case in his possession that will only bring him misery. So...what's in the case, and why do they want it?” IMDb.com
https://www.leatherandiron.com/index.htm Wow a sleeper of a good film, plot and bike action. Glad I did a direct purchase to be able to see it.

2002 Screaming Metal also released as Iron and Leather
Outlaw riders against the Asian Mafia! Deadly Bio Chemicals! Corporate Greed and Corruption! A loving father desperately trying to save his kidnapped Teen daughter! A Curvy Temptress playing each and every one traps him into a Mad Race against Time! eztakes Found was same as above when ordered thru Netflix

2002 The Last Chapter Canadian TV mini-series
“It's The Sopranos on chrome-plated choppers in this bloody saga of a ruthless biker gang's fight to dominate their vicious outlaw world. Michael Ironside stars in this landmark miniseries that kept international audiences riveted with its in-your-face portrayal of ambitious criminals at each other's throats as they battle for wealth and power.” DVDempire.com. The Godfather of biker-drug films maybe more on the drug side than true biker gang. Won awards.

Apr. 2002  Tattoo a Love Story
“Sara, a straight arrow schoolteacher, meets Virgil, an easygoing tattoo artist, and finds herself choosing between her comfortable life and a life of freedom and adventure.” IMDb.com
More of a biker lifestyle film as this biker tattoo artist opens the naive teacher to the world beyond her experience. One of the best positive bike flicks.

American Chopper TV series
Behind the scenes at Orange County Choppers. The series is also a study of the interplay between the Teutels, Paul Sr. and Jr., and the stress that both experience when creating motorcycles as works of art.

2003 The Brown Bunny
“Professional motorcycle racer Bud Clay heads from New Hampshire to California to race again. Along the way he meets various needy women who provide him with the cure to his own loneliness, but only a certain woman from his past will truly satisfy him.” IMDb.com I thought the movie was going for the loneliness of being a racer. Lots of road trip, not much bike action, just strange. More like a 70s film.

2003 Fighting Irish “What do you get when you mix a tough Irish kid with a topless bar, a biker gang, a beautiful stripper girlfriend, an alcoholic mother, an abusive father, bats, knives, guns, the police, the FBI, sleep deprivation and an inordinate amount of pride? The answer is Fighting Irish. Based on a true story Fighting Irish is an action/drama about one man and his three-year war with an entire biker gang. In the 90's, The Warlords Motorcycle Gang was a fixture in the New York nightclub scene, extorting money from bar owners and basically terrorizing the entire nightclub industry. That all changed when a down on his luck bouncer named Sean McCarthy took the Warlords actions personal.” IMDb.com

2003 documentary Easy Riders, Raging Bulls "documentary special based on the controversial best-selling book about the turbulent, revolutionary and outrageous decade that was the 1970's in Hollywood. .... This special includes clips from the world-renowned movies of the 70's, hit music and interviews with Richard Dreyfuss, Peter Bogdanovich, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Paul Schrader, Cybil Shepherd, and many other stars who took control of Hollywood and transformed the cinematic landscape forever." motorbiker.org
More of a film study film but includes Wild Angels and Easy Rider as films of the time.

2003 Jan. Biker Boyz
“A son of the leader of a legendary group of an urban biker gang tries to retain his championship title” IMDb.com

2004 Long Way Round TV Mini-Documentary "This documentary series follows actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on a motorcycle trip around the world. The two friends will travel through such places as Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Alaska, before finally ending the journey in New York" IMDb

More of a travel and personal test documentary.

A new look at an old story.

TV July 2004 Evel Knievel George Eads, Jamie Pressley, Beau Bridges
John Badham directed IMDb
This take on Knievel's story is a made-for-cable biopic that looks at the public and private lives of America's supreme daredevil. This was the second feature film about Knievel's life; George Hamilton played the stunt rider in a 1971 film also called Evel Knievel, while Evel Knievel played himself in the movie Viva Knievel!.”

Aug 2004 Dhoom A gang of bikers headed by the cool-headed and arrogant Kabir is on a robbing spree in Mumbai. They rob establishments and then zip away on their superbikes. ACP Jai Dixit is the case in-charge and he recruits a bumbling bike mechanic and racer named Ali to chase the gang on a bike and help Jai nab them. Kabir accepts the challenge, and pulls off another robbery amidst a function. This causes Jai and Ali to call it off. Jai resigns from the police force and Ali goes back to his daily job. IMDb.com

Sept  2004  The Motorcycle Diaries
“The dramatization of a motorcycle road trip Che Guevara went on in his youth that showed him his life's calling.” IMDb.com In Spanish with English subtitles. Worth watching for insight of Che and his adventure that opened his eyes and changed his life. If it takes a motorcycle to get you to watch then worth it.

Jan 2005 The Rain Makers Jake Bussy, Richard Hatch A man returns to his small home town from the Vietnam War and discovers corruption, graft, a crooked Sheriff and other dirty deeds. The members of the Freedom Preserve refuse to give up their commune and property, and suddenly find themselves being attacked and terrorized by a vicious biker gang. The sheriffs won't help and we discover that the department's lead deputy is in on it. IMDb.com - A cross of Billy Jack & Angel Unchained so not an original plot, more of a update/remake/combine.

Aug 2005 Dr. Chopper
Five young friends head out to the country for a weekend at the family cabin and run afoul of a group of motorcycle riding madwomen led by the sadistic, knife-wielding plastic surgeon Dr. Fielding. IMDb.com

The life story of New Zealander Burt Munro, who spent years building a 1920 Indian motorcycle -- a bike which helped him set the land-speed world record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in 1967. IMDb.com
True story & one of the best bike films I think. The DVD has the original documentary too so another good bonus

2005 Dust To Glory "An action-adventure documentary chronicling the most notorious and dangerous race in the world--the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Rivaling the Indy 500 and 25 Hours of Daytona, the race across Baja's peninsula is unpredictable, grueling and raw--just like the uncharted American West of yesteryear. To capture the vast desert panoramas and intense action of the race, the film team utilized, fifty-five cameras, four helicopters, a four-passenger buggy camera car and a crew of over eighty people. Robby Gordon, Mario Andretti, Jimmy Vasser and Motorcycle Supercross legend Mike Mouse McCoy joined together to experience the thrill and glory of the infamous race--an event of sheer human determination." IMDb

2005 The Seeker (Documentary)" "There's no such thing as false hope."
It's Easyrider with a quadriplegic at the throttle when forty-five year old Evan Somers sets out on a self-reflective odyssey by modified motorcycle seeking answers to the questions of his life." IMDB

2005 Harley Speed Junkies "At the final race in the national tournament, this country's top motorcycle drag racers gather at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to show off their stuff and vie for top honors. In the midst of the action, national champions J.P. Hendersack and Kim Slake as well as top-ranked female racer Valerie Thompson share tips, tricks and technical information and then demonstrate their techniques in action as they tear up the road." Netflix
Some good drag racing background but some interviews just go on way too long.

2005 Glory Road: The Legacy of the African-American Motorcyclist
Documentary on African-American motorcycle enthusiasts IMDb
As its subtitle makes clear, the documentary Glory Road offers a look at the history of motorcycle enthusiasts who are also African-Americans. The film follows a few subjects, showcasing their life and making observations about how their race and their passion for the open road relate to each other. allmovie.com - Very good documentary

2005 Wheels of Soul The documentary traces the history of the motorcycle club of the same name. The organization stands out from many similar biker institutions in that they remain one of the few motorcycle clubs that is racially integrated. The film shows what day-to-day life is like for members who also discuss memorable events and talk about how important the group's philosophy is to them as individuals. allmovie.com - Very good documentary

2005 Hessians MC documents the history of the motorcycle group, and offers a profile of some of the people who currently belong to the decades old institution. The majority of the film consists of footage of the group on the road, and stories of some of the more dangerous and memorable moments told by the group members that lived them. allmovie.com

Another good documentary

2006 The Doctor, the Tornado and the Kentucky Kid Documentary "Another great movie from director Mark Neale, showcasing the 2005 USGP at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Although a mediocre race in comparison to the Italian GP which took place a few races before, the history behind a race absent for 13 years is mesmerizing to say the least. Rich with celebrities, state of the art Motogp machines, and 50,000 rabid fans, this documentary will satisfy any fanatic of the awesome world of Motogp." IMDb Good documentary and second disk as a lot of racing action

2006 Motorcycle

allmovie.com

2006 Riding Solo to the Top of the World documentary
Riding Solo is a film about filmmaker Gaurav Jani's brave solo motorcycle journey from Mumbai to one of the remotest places in the world, the Changthang Plateau in Ladakh bordering China. The film is even more extraordinary for the fact that Jani was a one man camera crew unit who loaded his bike with 300 kg of equipment/supplies and set off on a journey to one of the world's most difficult terrains. IMDB.com

2007 Stories From the Road: Sturgis 2006 Documentary allmove.com
One the best bike-rally documentaries in a good travel style presentation. Good on the history, other aspects of the area, rides, great interviews and the real side of event beyond the normal T&A quickie productions on rallies. Zápletka:

Part sequel, part prequel, Easy Rider: The Ride Back delves into the family lineage of Wyatt “Captain America” Williams (played in the original by Peter Fonda) and the families trials and tribulations throughout the decades of the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s to present day. Juxt-a-posed against the families love affair with motorcycles, the film delves into issues of love, War, honor, and redemption, while keeping true to the spirit of the original film: the iconic “Buddy Ride” and the idea of a continuing search for freedom in an America that is struggling to find its identity.

Opening against the back-drop of present day Americana, the story begins with a conflicted Morgan Williams as he journeys to make amends with his dying father in Arizona. The black sheep of the family, Morgan's 40 year rift with his father has been the product of his following in the footsteps of his older brother Wyatt. Riding aboard the trademark Captain America motorcycle, a chopper which he recovered and rebuilt after his brother's death in Louisiana, Morgan teams up with his childhood friend Wes Coast as they embark upon an adventure that will force them to confront the past in order to make reparations with the present. From the conflicting battle fields of World War II and Vietnam to the dark past that has splintered a family, Easy Rider: The Ride Back is a journey for all ages. Every family has its secrets... Every Legend a Beginning.
